Aurelia Herpin Kite school Tarifa (Spain) offers you kitesurfing lessons in small groups of 2 students maximum per instructor, and 1-to-1 kite lessons. This enhances the global quality standard of the tuition, since the instructor focuses only on one or two students, making sure you are learning consistently and you are improving your kiting skills. Small ratios of students per instructor make you learn kitesurfing quicker and better.
Different kinds of kitesurf lessons are on offer at our kitesurfing school in Tarifa: group lessons, duo lessons, private lessons. You can choose the kind of lesson that best suits your needs and objectives. Group lessons are with 2 people sharing a kite, and one instructor. Duo lessons also are with 2 people per instructor, but there is a kite each. Private lessons are 1-to-1 tuition.
We can offer you complete kitesurfing courses in Tarifa with kitesurf lessons and with accommodation. We can also arrange the car rental for you at the airport.

WHY TARIFA FOR KITESURFING?
Located on the strait of Gibraltar, Tarifa benefits from extraordinary wind conditions all year round, with wind every day, and thus 300 windy days a year. Two kinds of wind blow alternatively: the west wind (Poniente), and the east wind (Levante). The west wind is a very steady wind, and generally blows between 12 and 25 knots, depending on the days. The east wind rather blows between 15 and 30 knots, the depends on the days. These two kind of winds swap regularly: the Poniente wind blows for a dew days, and then the Levante wind blows during several days…etc. The very frequent windy days make Tarifa be a hotspot for kitesurfing in Spain and in Europe. If you come to Tarifa for a kitesurf holiday, you are rather sure it is going to be windy during your stay.
Situated in southern Spain, in Andalusia, Tarifa offers very warm weather in the summer time (with temperatures raising up to 35 degrees) and warm temperatures at spring and in the autumn (between 20 and 30 degrees). Climate also stays very nice in the winter months, with air temperatures ranging between 12 to 20 degrees. Water temperature ranges between 16 degrees to 24 degrees, depending on the seasons. In Tarifa in Spain you will also enjoy a lot of sunshine, with more than 300 sunny days a year.
In Tarifa, nature is protected and unspoilt, and nearly all the coast and the surrounding hills are natural parks. Its location on the strait of Gibraltar also enables you to see the Moroccan coast lines situated only 14 kilometers away. The natural environment remains the ideal playground to enjoy other activities like windsurfing, stand up paddle surfing, surfing, wakeboarding, scuba diving, horse riding, quad riding, climbing, mountain biking, trekking…etc. It is also possible to enjoy whales-watching day trips on the strait of Gibraltar. Regarding the area, day trips to Tanger in Morocco are also on offer from Tarifa harbour. If you prefer to visit Gibraltar, this is only a forty minutes drive from Tarifa.
Tarifa, in the south of Spain, is well-known not only for being the kitesurfing capital in Europe, but also for its never-ending night life, with numerous restaurants, bars and night clubs. Fiestas are very high level and you definitely enjoy the typical spanish atmosphere.
For those who are more interested in culture and lifestyle, the spotlights will be put on spanish traditions during the Easter Week (called the Semana Santa) and for the Feria time (the first week of September).
HOW TO COME TO TARIFA?
Tarifa is a kite spot that is easy to travel to. It is located at only 2 hour-flight from the main cities in Europe. A lot of airline companies fly into the airports of Malaga, Sevilla, Gibraltar or Jerez de la Frontera. All these airports are located in the area of Tarifa, in southern Spain. Moreover flights to these airports are mostly direct.
By plane – airports in:
- Málaga: 1h45 from Tarifa.
- Sevilla: 2h30 from Tarifa.
- Jerez de la Frontera: 1h15 from Tarifa.
- Gibraltar: 40 minutes from Tarifa.
There are plenty of rent a car companies at these airports. From these airports there are also some bus lines that stop in Tarifa.
By road: access to Tarifa is very easy and well indicated.
- From Malaga, highway until Algeciras (15 mn from Tarifa), and then just follow the direction Tarifa-Cadiz.
- From Sevilla or Jerez de la Frontera, go on the highway with direction Cadiz. Just before arriving in Cadiz, follow signs for highway (A48) with direction Algeciras. The highway continues to Vejer (25 mins from Tarifa), at Vejer follow the direction Algeciras-Tarifa.
By train: the closest train station is in Algeciras. In that train station there are always some taxis to go to Tarifa. The bus station is just over the road from the rail station and there is a frequent bus service to Tarifa.
